Exeter City Swimming Club is proud to be a Swim England Para Hub Club for the South West region. We are avid supporters of Swim England’s Start Para-swimming initiative and offer expert coaching for para-swimmers from learn to swim through to squad development.

Our para programme is designed for swimmers who can swim at least 25m, with a physical or a learning disability diagnosis.

We can help swimmers with classification, an ongoing coaching programme and the support needed to train and compete so that they can reach their full potential.

MEET OUR PARA COACHES

Adam Clarkson- Lead Para Development Coach

Adam is a level 2 coach and teacher with a passion to see all swimmers develop and achieve their best potential as they start their swimming journey.

Adam came into the sport as a swimmer himself before transferring that passion to help others learn to swim and now has over 20 years’ experience as a swimming teacher and coach.

Adam’s coaching career began at Newton Abbot Swimming Club as an age group coach before progressing to Head Coach and then moving to Exeter 10 years ago. He is the Lead Para Development coach for the southwest Para programme, running taster sessions across the region and linking in to the regional and national programmes.

Kiera Jordan – Para Skills Coach

Kiera has been coaching with Exeter since 2016 but her swimming background has much deeper roots.

As a former competitive swimmer, Kiera competed at regional level in the pool as well as competing in open water.

During her time at Sheffield Hallam University, she coached at City of Sheffield Swimming Club, working with a range of swimmers from those beginning their learn to swim journey, through to performance athletes working towards national championships. It was during this time that Kiera completed her Level 2 coaching qualification, a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral and her personal training qualifications as well as attending multiple land training swimming courses.

Kiera is a qualified physiotherapist and these unique skills as a qualified physio, ex performance swimmer and experienced coach are invaluable to Exeter and Kiera is an excellent source of support to swimmers who wish to discuss their journey. She has also been tasked with completing musculoskeletal screening with the performance squad to help reduce the likelihood of injuries and understand the importance of land training and pre-pool. She loves to transfer these skills when helping para swimmers develop.
