Mount Kelly Summer Skills Camp 2018
On the 22/23/24 August a group of swimmers completed a residential skills swim camp at Mount Kelly College, Tavistock.
The swimmers were mainly from Exeter but also included swimmers from Dawlish and Tiverton Swimming Clubs with ages between 9 to 11.
The camp was staffed with coaches and team managers from Exeter and the busy schedule included gym sessions, education sessions and time in both the 25m and 50m swimming pools. The camp was very much based around skills so included sessions on all the four strokes along with turns and starts.
This doesn’t mean that there wasn’t time for a bit of fun with relays being completed in the final pool session with points being awarded for both speed and skills. There was also a very competitive game of volleyball, table tennis and very noisy games of Pass the Pigs played.
Everyone agreed the camp was a great success with positive comments on the new skills learned as well as new friends made, we certainly hope these new skills will be put into practice in the upcoming season.
Neil Shire, Lead Coach for the camp would like to pass on thanks to the coaches, John Bishop, Adam Clarkson and Louis Joyce and the Team Managers Natalie Moore and Mark Crispin who made it such a great experience.
