Green Team Overseas

Last weekend we had a number of Exeter City Swimming Club members overseas at International Meets.

Firstly we had Performance Swimmer Liv Burrow competing in Lisbon, Portugal for the South West Region team. Liv was one of 30 of the regions best swimmers who competed at the prestigious international swim meet, which took place on 7th, 8th and 9th February. Liv and the team flew out to Portugal on Thursday 6th and returned on Monday 10th February......in possession of the trophy for best team! An amazing achievement and really shows the strength in depth we have in our region. Our Head Coach Jo John was the lead coach for this overseas trip and one of our Team Managers, Marisa Jordan, was one of the South Regional Team Managers for this trip.

In addition to this overseas success, another of our Performance swimmers, Alec White, was selected as part of the 20 strong Swim England national talent squad that competed over the same weekend in Nice at the FFN Golden Tour Meet in Nice, France.

Quote from the Swim England website - "Twenty Swim England youngsters will receive expert coaching, a wide-ranging support network and competition from an international field when they take part in the FFN Golden Tour in Nice". "The annual meet in France gives some of the country’s top junior swimmers the chance to gain invaluable experience as they test themselves against the best from France and guests from around the world".

Here are Alec's results from the weekend against some of the best swimmers in Europe.

32nd – 50m Freestyle (24.48) 32nd – 50m Backstroke (27.65) 54th – 100m Butterfly (58.45) 55th – 100m Backstroke (1:01.88) 65th – 100m Freestyle (53.45) 68th – 50m Butterfly (26.59)

Well done to all of Team Green who competed, coached or assisted in these high level international meets - great personal and club recognition!
